Harman Interactive was
created by Betsy Harman to help nonprofit organizations and associations
create strong fundraising programs and enhance relationships with
constituents.
Betsy
is the primary advisor for online fundraising and e-mail marketing
for the Development Exchange Inc.,
a membership organization that fosters effective fundraising in public
radio and holds the annual Public Radio Development/Marketing
Conference. Betsy has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit development work and is a pioneer in developing best
practices in e-mail marketing for nonprofits.
From 2001 -2003, Betsy served as Project
Director for the Integrated
Media Association's New Basics Project,
a project in which twelve public radio stations
and National Public Radio worked together to
develop best practices in online fundraising and
e-mail marketing.

in providing training to nonprofit organizations
in the ethical and efficient use of the Internet
for philanthropic purposes, designated Betsy as an
ePhilanthropy Master Trainer. Master Trainers
are selected for their expertise in online
philanthropy strategy and techniques and their
ability to train others. View the complete
list of ePMTs and learn more here.
Before starting her consulting
practice, Betsy served as Director of Development at Chicago Public
Radio. During her six and a half years there, on-air fundraising
revenue grew by 50% while time spent fundraising on-air was cut in
half.
Under Betsy's leadership, development goals were
consistently exceeded and the station won awards for membership and
major gift fundraising.
In December 2000, Betsy published the station's first e-newsletter.
Betsy has also worked in development at
KUOW Public Radio in Seattle, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and
the Variety Club Children's Charity.
“During her tenure at Chicago Public Radio, Betsy transformed a behind the times membership operation into a state-of-the-art fundraising unit. We are also indebted to her for her foresight in spearheading the station’s e-fundraising initiatives."
