Monthly Giving Programs

There is a very interesting chapter in the book Nonprofit Internet Strategies that deals with monthly giving programs. Examples from Amnesty International Canada and Greenpeace are pointed to as good examples.

Here is the Amnesty International Canada donation page:

You’ll note that the monthly giving option is the default option. You can click to move to a different form for one time giving. You’ll also note that it very clearly associates the monthly giving levels with where the money goes.

Greenpeace also makes the monthly giving option the first option.

For the folks in the public broadcasting world who read my blog, take a look at the WGBH pledge page. They do a good job of offering a variety of ways for people to pay and from their pledge page they have a window that opens which explains the benefits of becoming a sustaining member.

Have you seen a website that does a good job of promoting a sustaining membership/ monthly giving option? Let me know about it. What’s working for you?
