Text Or HTML?

ClickZ.com Columnist Jeanne Jennings wrote an excellent article about the ongoing battle on the topic of whether to use text only or HTML e-mail. She does a great job of outlining the thinking in both camps. I’m with her in that I like HTML e-mail but believe that you need to keep your design simple, keep your audience in mind, and always remember that content is king. A good design isn’t impressive if the content is blah.
Plus, I think you should always put the choice in the hands of your e-newsletter readers. They may be capable of receiving HTML but for whatever reason just prefer plain text. Give them what they want.
