Online Fundraising: An Integrated Approach

A big mistake at many nonprofit organizations is that staff members are working in silos – the direct mail folks don’t know what the web folks are doing and vice versa. By taking an integrated approach to your fundraising efforts, you can raise more money and better serve your donors. E-mail can provide lift for direct mail. There are things you can do online that you can’t do through other means — i.e. provide a virtual tour of a new facility or show a video of someone your organization has helped. You can use your direct mail and print publications to drive people online to these resources.

How are you taking an integrated approach to your fundraising? I’m looking for a few good success stories to share in upcoming presentations I’m doing for NTEN in Chicago (Oct. 19th) the E-Philanthropy Foundation E-Tour in Columbus, Ohio (Oct. 29) and the AFP Northern New England Chapter (Nov 4) Drop me a note with what’s working for you.

I wrote this article on the topic of “Taking An Integrated Approach” for the GetActive Today e-newsletter. If you aren’t receiving GetActive Today, you can read my article here and sign up.
