Xangans & Fav Blogs
Yesterday’s Chicago Tribune had a fascinating column by Eric Zorn all about the blog explosion among teens. His son is 14 and says it is hip to Xanga and those who do it are called Xangans. I must not be hip, but I’d never even heard of Xanga? It must be a blogging tool like Blogger.com. Zorn’s column said that an estimated 10 million people – more than half of them teens — are blogging. Zorn said that his son and most of his Xangan friends aren’t looking for an audience for their blogs, they just want to express their thoughts and share stories with their peers.
I, on the other hand, want people to read my blog and I’ve almost jumped up and down when a couple people have written to thank me for writing it and to tell me that they are regular readers. Mary wrote to let me know she enjoys my blog and to let me know about another blog that is a favorite of hers. I thought I’d share her favorite with my other readers because I’m sure that Evelyn, the blog author, wants other readers too and she’s got some interesting content. Check it out here. Thanks for Sharing Mary.
A favorite of mine is Church of the Customer - Ben McConnell and Jackie Huba’s blog. I also really like Brand Autopsy which I’ve mentioned in an earlier blog entry.
Marketingsherpa.com recently asked readers to name their favorite blogs for marketing and PR. Here is a link to more info about their reader’s picks.
What are your favorite blogs? What do you think about the explosion of Xangans? How will that change the way we do business or marketing to teens? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
