My Blog
Ok here is my blog.
So a little about me and why I am doing this blog.
I have 15 years of experience in nonprofit development, 10 of those working with public broadcasting. Back in December 2000, I started an e-mail newsletter for Chicago Public Radio. I knew a lot about annual giving programs and membership fundraising and I saw a lot of potential for e-mail to build relationships with members and donors. I didn’t know much about e-mail marketing so I posted a question about it to the Chicago Fast Company Magazine listserv and I got some great responses. One person who responded, in fact, has now written a book called “Creating Customer Evangelists.” So, I got a lot of help, read a lot, and learned as I went along. Then, I took a course in online marketing at DePaul University and attended seminars in CRM and online marketing.
Now, a few years later I’m considered kind of an expert in e-mail marketing for public broadcasting. I publish Web Tool Tips, an e-newsletter about e-marketing for public broadcasting.
So, I’ve started my own consulting business to work with nonprofit organization and associations to develop integrated online and offline fundraising and marketing strategies.
Now I have decided that to be most useful to my clients, I ought to try to get at least a little tech savvy.
So I have now learned a tiny bit of HTML coding and I’ve started using Front Page. I also took a Dreamweaver class, but don’t own that yet.
I’ve read some good books on site usability and I think I can help nonprofits with that.
I created my website all by myself. The experience of creating it taught me a lot.
So now I am doing this blog to learn about blogging and what that is all about. So once in awhile when the mood strikes me, I’ll post something here.
